And We Danced...
Day 7 of The 10 Days of Joyful Expression series
Hellooooo super fabulous, creative soul!!
My work is born from the things I love, the things that make me feel alive. In this painting, I was thinking about dancing which was something I did for years as a child and teenager. It’s still a passion. From ballet and tap to modern and Irish, I spent years as a dancer.
While the style of this reminds me of ballet, the colors bring me back to my Irish dancing days. I remember turning on The Chieftains, counting out the music and beginning to dance around my room. Years later, I would spend St. Patrick’s Day dancing through the streets of NYC alongside my treasured childhood friend, Charlotte. How I loved those moments.
Now, when I watch dancers, especially as they make their way up Fifth Avenue during the St. Patrick’s Day parade, love and memory bloom in my chest.
These joyful expressions are symbols of joy. It was pure magic to be able to capture that love and joy in paint.
Thank you so much for the gift of your time. My wish for you is more than a prompt. It’s a wish for you to take a few minutes today no matter where you are and let explore the freedom you feel when you let yourself dance.
Love and step dancing,
Natasha
